Online Casino magnate Calvin Ayre has pledged to donate $1 Million dollars to the people of Haiti, who have been affected by the earthquake.
The founder of Bodog, the famous online sportsbook and gambling site, Calvin Ayre has decided to make the largest donation by any individual of the online gaming industry for the relief of Haiti. He has decided to donate it to the charitable organization Oxfam International via an organization bearing his own name. Ayre has also pledged to match any online gaming donations that is made to Oxfam International. However, later on he has agreed to open up his charity to other charitable organizations that wish to help the disaster stricken Haiti instead of being restricted to Oxfam only. He has also urged the other online gaming companies to take up this cause and help the people of Haiti. According to him it is the duty of the people having money to help the people of Haiti, which has been decimated due to the earthquake.
A shady figure whom the USA officials have been trying to arrest for years because of his sports betting and online gambling operations, which is largely aimed towards the American citizens. His whereabouts are still unknown and thought to be in the run from the US officials.
Calvin Ayre, in his blog, has stated his displeasure towards the affluent people of Haiti, who according to him are least bothered about the poor people. According to him because of the greed and the treachery of the rich Haitians the common and the poor Haitians are being deprived of their basic livelihood. So he urges the other members of the online gaming association to take up the responsibility to do something for the devastated Haiti people.
The total amount donated for the relief of Haiti will be announced on 28th January at London at the LAC Award.
