All legislators trying to forestall the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act from getting into play on December 1 got a major set back when the Representative duo opposed against the plea made by the legislators.

Legislators opposing the act requested for the extension of the December 1 deadline on the payment processors of UIGEA until the issue gets further discussed. Both Representative Spencer Bachus and US Senator Jon Kyl had asked the US Treasury department to ignore the request made by the 17 Congressman.
The Republican representatives in a letter directed to the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board and Secretary of Treasury informed their objection. They objected against the 12 month long deadline extension of the Act that had been planned.
The excerpt from the letter given to the Secretary of Treasury and the Chairman of the Federal reserve Board states that
“It has come to our attention that three associations representing the gambling industry recently submitted a request that the Treasury Department and Federal Reserve delay the compliance date of the Final Rule implementing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA) by an additional 12 months. We are also aware that 19 out of 71 Members of the House Financial Services Committee sent a letter to you in support of this request. We strongly oppose this request and believe that there is no justification for delaying the compliance deadline of the UIGEA regulations,”
Bachus and Kyl are known as opponents of all kinds of gambling. Kyl is also noted to lead fights upholding the disingenuous laws that refer sports betting as an illegal venture. The duo downplayed the request of Barney Frank and the 16 members of House Financial Services. They wish that UIGEA should be implemented into a law before any kind of reconsideration occurs.
