Yet another news of online gambling ban makes round these days. Now its turn of the Polish leaders who are organizing a campaign to ban online gambling. The Polish Prime Minister, Mr Donald Tusk, is making a plan to ban all forms of gambling outside the real casinos.

With plans to ban all forms of gambling outside the land based casinos, the government will also decide on the issue of raising taxes from the betting industry. This news came at a time when the government is already preoccupied with soaring scandals involving many members of the government.
Four of the high level officials of the government were forced to give resignation after the accusations that they were involved in letting the entire gambling industry carry out their decisions. It was this time when the gambling industry was brought into light.
The sting operation dubbed as the ‘Operation Blackjack’ saw the exit of the Minister of Sport, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice. This happened when the conversations among the departing officials were tapped and then leaked.
Critics have two different opinions in this new decision of online gambling ban.
- The first group of critics claim that this move of the government was a deliberately one so that the attention of general mass gets diverted from the growing political scandals and corruptions.
- Another group of critics put forward a different opinion, keeping the 2012 European Football Championships at the backdrop. This group stressed on the point that the country is witnessing sharp fall in revenues due to increase of tax. It is the time when Poland is preparing to host the 2012 European Football Championships together with Ukraine. Thus, the second group of critics feel that the country is struggling to fund this big event.
Furthermore, those people who are against this gambling ban proposes that the government can generate a great amount of revenue if they regulate online gambling instead of eliminating it.
However, the Polish internet gamblers do not seem to get threatened by this proposal that promises to ban all forms of online gambling in the country. Most of them feel that the country had laws on gambling before but online gambling has been there and will still continue to grow despite restrictions of any kind.
