In one of the most recent incidents, two bank accounts, which were associated with online web gambling payments have been seized by the Government of the United States. As per the reports forwarded by the Baltimore City Paper, both accounts included a total of $365. In addition, both the accounts were owned by the Atrium Financial Group.
Reports say that both accounts were taken under the warrant as they were used as payments to the web gambling patrons. However, this particular warrant forms to be the latest case on seizure and probably it differs from the other seizures of its kind. The difference is that the latest seizure became the first instance when it was not concealed in public.
The warrant of seizure was issued by the US District Judge Beth Gesner. The affidavit reading shows that this step of the federal government was a deliberate attempt to prevent and disrupt the payments to all US residents. It was against all those US people who were found to own money by the internet casinos.
The statement shows that the bank accounts are usually located by the undercover officers. It was these officers who were asking for the payouts from the internet gambling sites. In Atrium case, one of the officers from Louisiana State Police supposedly opened an online gambling account with the reputable site Golden Casino and then went on to request for the payment.
City Paper’s reports also suggest that the Golden Casinos has previously turned down many attempts of the undercover Louisiana police officers who tried to sign in as new users. Like many states in the US, Louisiana too includes a law against internet gambling. On the other hand, Golden Casino being a well known site is known to respect the local laws but the police deluged the site sighting any on going malfunction.
The payments that were made was usually made through the Atrium accounts. As it was made through Atrium, it confirmed that the Atrium is one of the company that was used by the Golden casino. This company was used by the well established online site – Golden Casino just to honor their own debts to all the US residents.
This particular case may be a worst ever instance for all those people who love gambling but law will go on its way. Online gambling still being an illegal act in few areas of US, the authorities seized accounts just to prevent payments and to show that the web gambling is perilous to all consumers.
